Parents play an incredibly important role. Yet, as children grow up, choosing the right books becomes a challenging task with all the options available. Parents do not want to give their children reading material that they themselves would not condone in their own homes especially if it cannot be read out loud. Therefore, parents need support from trustworthy leaders who will respect their household and their choices.
How can parents ensure they put the best reading material in front of their children? Never assume every fancy book site, librarian, or teacher has a parent’s best interests in mind with respect to what they will appreciate for their child.
Parents should decide what they give to their own children and all outsiders should honor that. Unfortunately, many schools have cut parents out of the loop due to "let the children choose" propaganda. Cutting parents out negatively affects literacy-building. We believe in supporting parents instead of pushing them out.
